This application places other types of files in the photo directory you upload when using Picasa. ZebDisk is a free software, and you can store, and share your files on the internet with it using Google's Picasa service.
Google's Picasa service gives its users the ability to share their photos on the internet. ZebDisk places other files in these photos using a technic similar to steganography.
Download: Users can connect to any Picasa address shared via ZebDisk, and they can download and save any file which was accessible publicly.
Upload: Users can sign up a Picasa account, and can send any file to this account. They can set these files accessible publicly or restricted to themselves only.
The producers have no commercial expectations. That's why ZebDisk doesn't contain any malicious code, and any ability to collect information. HTTPs protocol (128 bit encription) is used on connections between user computer and Google servers. Beside, user cannot save email and password information.
Google provides APIs for their services to increase the usage of these services, and to help new applications to be developed. Picasa service is one of them.
You can see sample projects at Picasa Web Albums Data API.Theoretically ZebDisk is not different than these samples. Sharing Photos, which is the main purpose of Picasa, can be done via ZebDisk.
So, the only difference is that this software can place other files in these photos. Theoretically, if someone has the right to store data contained in his/her photos using Picasa service, he/she has the right to store photos created by ZebDisk that contain other data.
